For what it cost this is a good value that gets the job done although not quite like comercial cubers. It is sturdy and well built. Iar stm8. Should last a long time. I thought i would want it to be motorized but found that feeding the machine with one hand while cranking with the other wasn't a problem. If you have lots of steak to cube it might help but i wouldn't spend the money for a couple of deer a year.
About the only thing i would like to see different is a little wider blade set and a little less distance between blades. I like tor run my cuts through from 2 directions and that's had to do if the enty chute isn't wide enough. If the blade were closer together I problably wouldn't need to go from 2 directions. I would recomend this but suggest you shop it hard. Very sturdy, well made, will last a long time 2. Inexpensive compared to other models 3.
Very sharp blades, will slice thru your beef jerky like butter Cons: 1. Blades very sharp and difficult to wash. You'll need special gloves unless you want to cut yourself. If you want thin jerky strips;ie, less than 1/4 inch wide, this is no good for you. If you want to press your jerky meat thinner after you dried it,this is no good for you. Cannot be used to press and cut dried squids and beef/deer jerky the way I wanted: 1/16 inch strip and 1/16 inch thick.
I did a lot of research before I chose this manufacturer. Chef's Choice had the best rating for a home slicer.
First impressions: NOT gold, as shown in picture. (I don't care, but you might.) Cons (?): I just unpacked it and read the instructions, which had typos (not a good start). The extra fuse fell on the floor because the bag was not sealed as it should have been (also not good: no seal in the bag, and why do I need one if it doesn't overheat?).
Tried to register on line, no online registry (Hmm). Plastic square plate not listed in booklet (Guess what it's used for?).
Wanted to send an email to ask about the unlisted plastic square (assume it's for catching slices), no email contact (What?), though you CAN call during business hours. CAN'T wash food-touching parts in the dishwasher, must. Works great and helped me turn out my best batch of jerky yet. The end product ends up much more consistent when everything is the same thickness! Product: The knife seems to be of good quality and very sharp.
